Hello Tara, tell us a little bit about WESTconsin Credit Union.
WESTconsin Credit Union exists to serve the financial needs of our member-owners (account holders) and our communities. As a not-for-profit financial services organization, we are owned and operated by and for our members. Our members receive dividends back on a daily basis in the form of low-fee products and services. In addition, our not-for-profit status enables us to operate at a lower cost than many for-profit institutions and helps WESTconsin offer competitive loan and savings rates to our members. Why did you choose to partner with Fairy Wonderland?
I was immediately drawn to Alison as a person when she came to visit me at the credit union. She has great energy and a drive to turn the negative to positive. This is something I strive to do in my own life daily. I enjoyed hearing the backstory of the park opportunity, although it involved pain and loss. It takes great courage to rise and ultimately shine from a devastating life event and I admire Alison and her team for their initiative. The inclusivity of the park and the need in the Prescott community were another driving factor in our determination to sponsor. The impact will spread throughout Prescott and neighboring communities which are all in our field of membership. It just felt like the "right thing to do" and so it was an easy decision on my part to make the proposal to our corporate team. I look forward to an ongoing partnership with Alison and her counterparts as the building of Fairy Wonderland Park comes to fruition!
What characteristics or values do you or your business share with Fairy Wonderland?
Social Purpose: People Helping People—This is the founding philosophy among all cooperatives. Our goal is to serve our entire field of membership well – every member counts. This ‘people-first’ mindset empowers our members and employees to get involved in many charitable activities and worthwhile causes.
The park will be an inclusive park where everyone is welcome and able to play.
